Join Christie, the maker behind MadPotters for a hands-on cement pot making class. Your ticket price includes all materials needed to mix and pour your own cement pot. You'll start by choosing one of three colors of cement and then I'll walk you through the art of mixing, pouring, and molding cement to achieve an unexpectedly smooth result.
Once you've made your pot, you'll be able to pick out a succulent and a top dressing kit to bring home. It takes some time for the cement to cure and cool so planting will have to wait a day or two for optimal plant happiness. While we wait, Ill take you on a tour of the wholesale side of the nursery where you'll get to see where the plants get their start, propagation trays and other "behind the scenes" growing areas not normally open to the public. The FarmStand will be open for shopping, too!
Things to note:
- Cement can get messy! I suggest you wear something you don't mind getting dirty. Ill provide gloves and masks at the start of class for those who want extra protection, but you might want to hold off on that manicure, too!
- The drying time of cement can vary greatly depending on the weather. We have allowed two hours for this class but please note that it may take longer for your pot to dry. We will hold it for you for pick up at a later date if you're pressed for time, otherwise we've got some things to keep you occupied while you wait - or bring a light lunch or snack and take in the scenery! This also applies to drilling of a drainage hole: if it is safe to do so before you leave, I'll take care of it! If not, Ill give you step by step instructions for doing it at home.
This class is limited to 6 seats per session to ensure each attendee gets personal attention and hands-on help if needed.
Ages 14+ only, please. We plan on offering a kids' workshop in the future, but this specific class is not suitable. Thank you for understanding. A private session can be scheduled, just ask!
Tickets are required for this event - walk-ins will not be accepted.
